| The old Alameda Theater at 318 West Houston Street, a gloriously extravagant example of Art Deco/Latin/Moderne architecture, is currently being meticulously renovated. When completed, the theater will be at the center of Arte en La Zona Cultural, a developing Latino cultural arts district. The theatre will also serve as headquarters for The Alameda, the non-profit arts organization which is the catalyst for these new developments. | |
 In affiliation with the Smithsonian Institution, The Alameda will also be opening a regional history and culture museum in the Centro de Artes building in Market Square. |
